Ninth Vietnamese culture festival to be held in Seoul this Sep

The 9th Vietnamese culture festival (Vietfest Seoul 2019) will be held at Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK), on September 1 to celebrate the 74th National Day of Vietnam.

Visitors at the event will have an opportunity to taste the signature dishes of Vietnam and South Korea, and enjoy musical performances by popular Vietnamese artists. Pop star My Tam performs in 2018 festival.

In recent years, besides bolstered economic relations, Vietnam and South Korea have actively engaged in cultural and social exchanges. The annual event helps expatriates, who number nearly 200,000 in the RoK at present, to remember their origin. Meanwhile, local people could better understand the traditional culture of Vietnam, thereby enhancing the cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

The festival will feature a number of activities, including a Vietnamese-Korean talent search contest, an arts programme by Vietnamese artists, introduction of Vietnamese handicrafts and cuisine, and folk games.

Visitors will be able to try on Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) and Hanbok (traditional South Korean dress), in addition to Vietnamese and South Korea folk games and exciting contests.

The festival is expected to welcome 10,000 visitors./.
