Pen Monument to go green for ‘Ireland’s Global Greening’ initiative this weekend

The Pen Monument in Hoan Kiem Lake will turn green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – Ireland’s National Day on March 16, as Hanoi joins the Global Greening Initiative for the third time.

Ireland’s National Day, St. Patrick’s Day, is coming, and all around the world people of Irish heritage and friends of Ireland celebrate the day. Since 2010 a very special initiative called ‘Ireland’s Global Greening’ has grown to become a significant worldwide campaign in which landmark sites (stadiums, statues, museums and towers…) around the world ‘turn green’ to mark St. Patrick’s Day.

This year, the Pen Monument in Hoan Kiem Lake will join about 400 iconic of the world’s most famous landmarks around the world set to go green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – Ireland’s national day.

The Ireland Day festival, a family-friendly public event, will be organised by the Friends of Ireland in Vietnam (FOI). There will be cultural activities, Irish music, and fun games for all ages.

The Traditional Irish Music Society of University College Cork (UCC Tradsoc) will present some of the best Irish music and dance./.
